Cloud Sync & Conflicts
monodit is designed to move cleanly between local guest work and account-based sync.
This page focuses on the cloud sync model and what happens when local and cloud versions conflict. For a broader overview, see Guest Mode & Sync.
How Sync Works
When you are logged in, workspace changes such as adding widgets, resizing layouts, or updating custom widget code are synchronized to your account.
When you log into your monodit account on a new device, your synced workspace is downloaded and applied there as well.
Handling Conflicts
We've built a robust conflict resolution system to ensure you never accidentally overwrite your hard work.
If you have been building a dashboard in Guest Mode on a device, and then you log into an account that already has a saved dashboard in the cloud, monodit will detect a conflict.
Instead of silently overwriting your local changes or destroying your cloud setup, a conflict resolution screen will appear. You will be prompted to choose which version of the dashboard you want to keep:
- Keep Cloud Version: Discards the local Guest Mode layout and loads your saved account dashboard.
- Keep Local Version: Overwrites your cloud dashboard with the layout you just created in Guest Mode.
Safety Net: Whichever version you choose to discard is automatically backed up locally in your browser, ensuring nothing is permanently lost during the decision process.
